What a wonderful interview! I so enjoyed "meeting" you - and finally learning your name, which I once looked for on your About page. Thank you, Steve! 😉
I so enjoyed your thoughts on the sound of words and rhythm in a sentence. Reading one’s work out loud while editing helps to achieve this. And for some it comes naturally. Thanks for the editing tip. Seven minutes was a nice length. The interview flew by.
I enjoyed hearing you talk about the difference between your journaling and your writing for others. That's been my experience too, but I'd come to believe I spend too much time in my journaling "should-ing" myself, rattling about what I haven't done yet or should do .. maybe it's ok and I just need to get that stuff out of my head. Also really like your thoughts on nature writing consisting of ourselves and our 'stories' (myths, spiritual connections, other forms of meaning) as part of what we observe, not just purely objective .. we are intimately part of the scene.
Outstanding video. It effectively helps me connect with your likable personality. Well done!
Herons are very cool! We get them on the lake where we live, in Scott County, Iowa. 💐🌺
Sounds wonderful. They are role models for patience
This is great! My favorite animals (in order):
Cats
Herons
Turtles
Sanderlings.
I could watch herons all day, and combine that with your meditative way of looking at the world--it sounds like a plum of a book! Will order!!!
Oh--and those Flint Hills! I drove through them a few years ago and was truly astonished--a kind of "who knew" stretch of time and wonder.
Thank you—so many things underneath the Kansas soil.

Ha. I wasn't trying to hide. I don't think 🤔
Skip the "that," you say,
Words fly free without the weight,
Now look at them go. 🙂
Steve, This is very good! I love your emphasis on spirituality! Thanks for your openness and honesty. Wonderful!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks. Yes. Flying!
Outstanding .. I thought this interview was very insightful. Thanks for putting this out there!
Thanks. I'm primarily old-school, meaning nothing but the written word. Since my next column is taking so long, I thought this would be worth sharing.
